Under the resolution of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine №2488 – VI of July, 10, 2010 the town of Obukhiv was referred to the category of the towns of regional significance.

During the 4^th session of the 6^th convocation, according to the subsection 5 of the article 26 of the Local Self-government Law of Ukraine, the archives department of the executive committee of Obukhiv Town Council was created.

Since September, 5, 2011 till November, 7, 2011 Prokopenko Svitlana Mykolaivna was assigned to the position of the head of the archives department of Obukhiv Town Council’s executive committee.

Since December, 2, 2011 Kulyk Oksana Mykolaivna was assigned to the position of the head of the archives department of Obukhiv Town Council’s executive committee.

The art history Department of the Executive Committee of the City Council Obukhovskaya is the executive organ of the City Council, formed by Obuhìvs′koû City Council, is accountable to and accountable to the Council, which it formed, managed by the Executive Committee and head of the city, and on the implementation of the delegated responsibilities of executive bodies in the area of archives and records management is also under control, according to the State archives, the State Committee on Archives of Ukraine, in the manner established by law. 

Documents, that is taken in the National archived fund of Ukraine(НАФ) and documents from the personnel of the liquidated enterprises, establishments of city, are kept in the archived department.

By the state on January, 1, 2013 64 funds are counted in the archived department, 1700 units of storage of documents of НАФ and 1640 units of storage of documents from a personnel 57 liquidated enterprises.

In the archived department науково-довідкова literature is kept: the Research and practice magazine "Archives of Ukraine"; literature from history, reference Book of "Адміністративно-тереторіальний division of Kyivshchyna of 1918-2010рр".

An expert commission is created in the archived department and works .
